Patrick was the ICU nurse for a patient, who had downs syndrome and suffered a care cardiac arrest. I have worked for the patient for 28 years and this event came as a shock. Patrick not only attended to the patient's needs but was so comforting to me who has never experienced death. Patrick took the time to comfort me and the guilt I felt as well as the patient's sisters. Patrick was by the patient's side making sure he was comfortable through his last days and made everyone else feel a level of comfort through the three days the patient spent with him. Often times people with developmental disabilities are dismissed but Patrick was an angel, a complete professional that also took the time to get to know who the patient was before "the event." He does amazingly with a wonderful and caring attitude.
