Patrick McGuinness, RN

I’d like to recognize Patrick for his immense dedication not just to the patients and families he cares for but to the community, as well.  Patrick is an asset to our unit and always finds a way to go above and beyond for our patients and families.  Most recently however his skills as an ICU-level nurse were used to care for a complete stranger in the community.  Patrick was recently running a 10k race in Flushing with the Road Runners Club.  A man running in the race collapsed and people obviously went to help including Patrick.  The man was found to have no pulse and Patrick did CPR for 20 minutes until the paramedics arrived and then went on to finish his race.  The tenacity it takes to be a nurse on this extremely acute unit is always admired but the fact that Patrick could use his courage, strength, and skill in such a vulnerable situation is truly something to be recognized.
