June 2022 Honoree
Patti Evans, MSN, RN, CDCES
A PA was taking care of a young patient admitted for Diabetic ketoacidosis. Multiple admissions for the same complaint. Patient reported that he is unable to control his blood sugar as he cannot afford one of his medications. The patient had insurance in Kentucky, not covered in Illinois. The case manager was unable to change his insurance due to legal issues. The patient was unable to travel for medications. One employee thought of a plan to get medications. She called the pharmacy in Paducah, and contacted the patient’s primary care provider in Kentucky to send over the script. Patti picked up medications and brought them to the patient before he left for discharge. They both went well above and beyond to take care of this young patient. I appreciate all they do!
Thank you, Patti, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
