Patti is recognized and appreciated by her peers for her knowledge and wonderful work ethic and has a wealth of information from her many years of OR nursing experience. Patti is our Urology, Podiatry, Dental and Eye Resource nurse for the OR. She has a great working relationship with the surgeons and vendors and works closely with them to make sure we have all of the equipment and supplies needed for their cases. Her attention to detail ensures everything goes smoothly so we can provide excellent patient care. She works hard to welcome our new physicians and spends a lot of time working with them to make sure they have the equipment/instruments necessary to make them successful. Patti also chairs our materials and equipment committee and is very knowledgeable about our instrument sets and what is needed for each case. This knowledge makes her a great resource person for her peers and the surgeons. She is very attentive to detail and cost containment and will work with surgeons and vendors to help save resources whenever possible.
When the Surgery Department purchased its first Robot this summer, Patti offered to be part of the "Robot Team" and voluntarily took over as the temporary Resource Nurse. She made sure we would have the necessary supplies to make our Robot surgeries go smoothly. She is always willing to do what is necessary for excellent patient care and to make our department run efficiently. Patti has been a preceptor for many years. She is a great team player and teacher/mentor and fosters positive relationships between staff and physicians. She is an excellent patient advocate and develops a good relationship with her patients and their families. She truly treats her patient as if they are family.
Patti's dedication to Mercy Hospital Surgery Department is obvious by her daily contribution at work by putting patient care first and going above and beyond to help others when needed. She is a valuable member of our surgery team.
