Patty Hammett, RN

Patty is a wonderful nurse and the personality of our unit. She keeps us laughing and our patients laughing. Before attending nursing school, she was a cosmetologist. Patty keeps a hair dryer, shampoo cap, and other tools needed to make our patients look good. We’ve had a patient in the hospital for nearly 200 days, in and out of ICU. Patty heard that this gentleman needed a haircut and beard trim. She went to his room and cut his hair and beard. The staff were so grateful for this, they wrote her the sweetest WOW card. Patty also shaped the beard and cut the hair of our long-term behavior patient. This put the biggest smile on his face- having someone take the time to cut his hair and talk to him- something he hasn’t had in a while.
