My daughter had surgery last month on her birthday. When she was in post-op she had a nurse named Patty K. She was doing her best to make my daughter as happy and comfortable as she could. Patty said she could have whatever she wanted because it was her day to be spoiled. That's when I told her "good because it's her birthday too". Patty made sure she felt extra special even before she knew it was her birthday. A little while later she came back with a cake and a present wrapped in surgical paper. It wasn't anything big but it meant the world to my daughter. We don't have much right now and we just moved here and I'm not able to give her what she wants for her birthday, so the fact that she got something was such a big deal. Patty didn't have to do anything more than say happy birthday when she found out, but she when above and beyond to make sure it was a special day for her, even though she was having surgery. My daughter keeps talking about how great all the nurses were that day and that she thinks she wants to be one now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making her birthday something special!
