Our nurse, Patty Olmsted, provided us with care that was exceptional in its delivery and substance. Her soothing, sensitive demeanor paired with her knowledge and efficiency left us feeling comforted and cared for in a painful situation filled with loss. She spent a great deal of time with us and was always considerate of us in what she did or did not say. Due to our OB/Gyn being in a c-section with another patient, Patty delivered the baby and kept us calm while we awaited the on-call doctor. She was conscious of the emotional significance of the experience. She handled our baby with gentleness and caring, and helped to facilitate a meaningful goodbye. She brought her a hat, and arranged for a photographer, a chaplain, and remembrances. She made sure that we had time to hold, kiss, look at, and say goodbye to our daughter. She treated our family with compassion, consideration, and respect.
