October 2010 Honoree
paul castaneda, RN
One of our members had this to say about Paul.
“My brother and I nominate Paul for the Daisy award for caring for our mother. She’s suffering from pneumonia, congestive heart failure and a myriad of associated complications. Paul is doing an outstanding job of educating us about our mother’s condition and treatment. He explains what the readings on the various machines to which she’s connected mean. He answers all our questions.
Paul also is attentive to and gentle with our mother. He strokes her head when she becomes agitated. He puts salve on her dry lips regularly and he was the first person to catch an ear infection caused by a hearing aid. He speaks to her in a calm, reassuring manner.
Paul is outstanding. We thank him for his unparallel professionalism and deep compassion for his patients and their families – including us!”
