My husband and I would like to give special recognition to Paul Eubanks, RN on 4-West. He was my husband's RN on many evenings. Paul was attentive in every way and treated my husband with the kind of respect and kindness one would with their own father.
Our family rotated members to stay with my husband each night. Those evenings with Paul there were really extraordinary. One evening in particular, the night of my husband's surgery, the surgical team came in and said they were moving my husband for the night to the surgical floor. This distressed my husband so I asked Paul if he was okay with having a post-surgical patient. He said, "absolutely". So as usual, he cared for my husband with his expertise and compassion never blinking an eye. He was not satisfied with the way the catheter was draining so after analyzing the angle, he was able to readjust it so the flow was much better. All the while speaking to my husband, letting him know he understood how uncomfortable he might be - acknowledging his feelings.
Today my husband will move to hospice and when Paul stopped in to say goodbye, he finished by telling my husband that he was a better person for knowing him. My husband's reply "As was I". We will be forever grateful for Paul's wonderful care.
