Paul Jones exemplifies the very best of the attributes that NYP expects from its nurses and makes a truly outstanding mentor and role model for those around him.

Not only is Paul always "spot on" from a clinical standpoint but his patience, compassion, communication skills, and leadership on 5N is truly noteworthy. Today, we discharged a patient to a hospice facility with stage IV breast CA. She had multiple admissions to our unit and during this last, particularly long stay, Paul not only provided complex clinical care, but gave the family an enormous amount of support and was a true advocate for them whenever he was in charge or acted as the primary nurse. He was instrumental in promoting comfort measures and ensuring the proper code status was in place.

One day while the family was just beginning to grapple with hospice, I changed the roommate for the patient and family's sake. Over the weekend, an equally inappropriate roommate happened to be assigned, Paul then went to great length to have the family placed in our private room in the back which was a much more peaceful environment. He consistently brings this empathy and caring to his work. He is diligent about following up with everything he does and I have witnessed his communication skills in difficult situations.

He is ALWAYS professional polite and diplomatic. He is an enormous asset to 5N and NYP and is truly deserving of this recognition.
