Paul Sanchez is an RN here at the surgical hospital. He is a new RN nurse in the OR. I was amazed at what he did today. He was about to go to work and I saw him in the parking lot helping someone with their car. I asked him what he was doing and he said that this man needed a tire change because his tire was flat. He helped him change his tire even though he was running late. I was the charge that day and I made sure that his preceptor knew that he was going to be late. The man was a patient's family member who needed to pick up their relative later. Paul took time and made sure he was okay and the family member felt so grateful he cried and gave him a hug.
