Paula is an amazing asset to the Medical Imaging Department and to the hospital! We are blessed to have her.
While finishing her bachelor's degree, she created an actual patient safety initiative, an IV Contrast Media wristband, to alert providers to the type of contrast injected, time and date so that contraindications could be avoided. She received recognition from the Indiana Hospital Association for this patient safety innovation. She also recently saw a need for patient education concerning Infusaport ID verification, and working with our Oncology department, developed the education which will prevent harm to the patient and delay in their care.
She has been very instrumental in working with our breast care program to schedule biopsies promptly and efficiently.
She always goes beyond and above for her patients, helping them get their exams/MRIs completed timely, even contacting Administration and Billing for a patient having difficulty paying for Cancer Staging exams. She'll often come in on her days off to be sure exams are completed timely and before the patient's next office appointment.
