Paula is an extraordinary nurse and one whom the whole unit respects and depends upon. As a charge RN, she is constantly managing and helping the entire unit whether reviewing orders, calling physicians, explaining things to patients and families or answering questions from nurses and techs. Paula does all these things with an attitude of genuine friendliness and respect. She also goes above and beyond when it comes to nurturing the knowledge and clinical growth of her fellow coworkers. She takes time to explain the 'why' and 'how' of processes and procedures and takes a direct interest in the successfulness of her coworkers. When patients who have been to our floor are admitted to our floor again, many of them remember Paula from their previous visit and appreciate that she is still working here because they trust and value her nursing ethic.
Paula is a compassionate nurse who advocates for her patients' best interest. She leads by example, always helping where she can and teaching others when appropriate. I personally have benefitted greatly by learning from Paula and many of the other nurses I speak to say the same. If anyone in my family became ill, I would like Paula to take care of them so that I can be confident in the care they would receive.
