I came to Memorial a week after my delivery because of an intense headache. After spending more than 8 hours in the ED without a diagnosis communicated to me, I was admitted to the OB Special Care Unit. I was very emotional because I was not able to go home to my newborn. I was blessed to have Paula caring for me that evening. Paula was compassionate when I was feeling guilty for being away from my baby and uncertain about when I would see her again. Just her placing her hand on my shoulder was a huge comfort in that moment. I also appreciated her clinical knowledge. Paula explained that I had developed post-partum preeclampsia. Paula gave me the details I wanted about each test and treatment. She coordinated with the doctors to provide updates. It was reassuring to know what I could expect and to have all of my questions answered. My husband and I are incredibly thankful for the care Paula provided. She is an amazing nurse and provided outstanding care.
