Paula assessed her patient upon arrival and with her next check noticed that the patient had decreased sensation and movement. She contacted the physician and with the help of another staff member, was able to get the patient the evaluation necessary to determine that he needed to be taken to the OR. Had Paula not been diligent about keeping a close eye on this patient, the patient could have deteriorated further and possibly become a paraplegic.
