Paulette Pearson's clinical skill and especially her compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patient, families and staff recognize as an outstanding role model.

We had a patient on the floor that was finally going home-after almost a month! His discharge was cancelled various times over the weeks he was here and he was very depressed. Upon getting the word the day he was indeed going home there was such an environment of glee and joy that we all felt overwhelming happiness. Home IV antibiotics were set up, home health care set up. During the afternoon a report came up that his PICC line was curled up and his discharge would not happen if the issue wasn't resolved by 3pm. We immediately got an order to change out the line. When I explained the situation to Paulette, she understood our desperation. She cut her lunch short, immediately came to the floor, gowned up, placed a new power PICC and at 2:50 pm was finished. We were able to allow him to leave. He cried as he left. Paulette was 100% patient care focused and went above and beyond to help get him home.

--2nd Nomination for Paulette---My boyfriend has open wounds on his legs. He has been in pain for weeks and he finally said it's time for the hospital. Paulette gave outstanding service. She made me feel like she cared about her job and was very helpful with a great attitude. I'm so grateful that we had such an awesome nurse. I felt good and she made me feel safe about leaving him. She is very friendly, has a great smile and made me laugh. I really like her and am grateful for everything she has done.
