Payal introduced herself as an ICU nurse and from the start, it was evident she was in control of the situation.
I was in the hospital for diagnosed diverticulitis. I was on 3 antibiotics feeling much better and even the doctor thought it might be possible to go home the next day. That night my wife and I were winding down, close to going to sleep, midnight or so, watching T.V. All of a sudden my heart started racing and because I was wearing a heart monitor nurses showed up in what seemed like immediately and before I could push the call button. I could feel my neck pulsating. My wife and I were extremely alarmed.
Within a couple of minutes, there was a collection of 10 doctors/nurses in the room, and multiple conversations; it was loud and busy in my room. Payal introduced herself as an ICU nurse and from the start, it was evident she was in control of the situation. At this time my heart was racing, my wife and I were informed that my heart rate was up to 208 rate. That scared us both. I could visibly see my wife's face as white as a ghost. There was a bit of chaos in the room. Doctors were talking and nurses were trying to locate the tools they needed, new electrodes going on, medications were being called for and I was sweating profusely.
Payal is explaining what is going on to me and my wife. This is helping us to stay calm. Of all the chaos in the room, Payal was the calming force for me and my wife. Always composed, calm, and professional. I know this is instrumental in providing A+ care. I was then moved and remained under the care of Payal over the next couple of days. I believe 2nd shift. I had surgery the morning after the heart issue that addressed my diverticulitis.
2 nights after the surgery I experienced the same exact heart issue. SVT with 210 rate. So thankful Payal was still there with me, her calm, composed, and compassionate professional attitude showed through once again. She again helped my wife and I get through the chaos as best we could. Payal is a remarkable nurse and I bet an even better person. She is an asset to this hospital that will never be matched. Thank you, Payal!
