We had Payton as our night nurse right after my daughter's scoliosis surgery and then again the next day. She was so kind and sweet to my daughter, expressing her willingness to help with her comfort and state of mind more than a regular nurse would do for a patient on a shift. My daughter asked if she would be our nurse again on our 3rd night, and although Payton was the charge nurse, she surprised us by checking in sometime after her shift started. What she did for my daughter at that time is why I am nominating her for this award.

Payton fulfilled my daughter's request for a much-needed sponge bath and hair rinse without a second thought. She creatively rinsed and shampooed my daughter's hair with a single basin and a water pitcher, and with so much care, it made my daughter so happy. That single act made a tremendous impact on my girl. She saw a nurse in a different light. One passionate about helping others, even strangers, and bringing a little happiness in an already stressful situation such as post-surgery. I wish I could thank Payton beyond words and this nomination. We really need more nurses like her.
