Payton is an exemplary nurse and patient advocate. I found myself confused by the information I was receiving from all the medical professionals involved in my care. She took the time to actually listen to me and my concerns and I felt heard and safe. This was my third hospitalization in the span of a month, so I have had contact with many nurses in separate towns and Payton is hands down one of the VERY BEST! She answered all my questions and if she didn't know the answer, she found out in a timely manner. Even if it was just to stop by and give me a squirt of her antibacterial out of her cute squirrel. She was a bright light on my journey and kept my spirits up. My children live out of state, and I didn't feel it necessary for them to make a trip to Indiana when my condition was improving. Having Payton as my nurse filled that void and I knew I not only had an excellent nurse, but also an advocate. When I had none physically here for me, she was here. Words cannot express what that means to me and to my family. She shared her desire to continue her education and she would be an asset to any healthcare facility, but I sure would do what I could to keep her! The way she pulled a chair up and looked me in the eyes and said, "I am here for you, to care for you and to listen to you and advocate for you, that is my job!" I knew right then and there she was one of a kind. She did all those things for me. I realize that is her job, but not all medical professionals realize or remember this. Having been a Healthcare Administrator in the past, having just one Payton can make a ripple of positivity throughout the organization.
