The Memorial Hermann Pearland Emergency Department family is an incredible institution of medical professionals who not only provide the highest quality care but consider ourselves to be family caring for families. The foundational culture of this Team is based on compassion and empathy in their interaction with every patient and also with their collaboration with each other.
During the height of our pandemic, and during the worst weather Houston has seen in a century, every ED in the Houston metro area was filled with those who needed our help in some form. Individuals with critical level medical emergencies flocked to MH Pearland seeking help, treatment, and understanding from our Team. Those who were without electricity for an extended period of time came to us so that they could breathe easier knowing they had a source of oxygen, a kind word, and a helping hand. Every conceivable type of patient came seeking assistance, and it was during the very worst of those times, that this ED family was at their best!
Continually rising to the numerous and competing challenges hour after hour and day after day, this Team showed everyone (and each other) what they were made of. Physicians, nurses, and PCTs volunteering to come to work rather than having to be asked and working long hours through shifts with no seeming beginning or end. Team members sleeping on floors wherever a place was available and then rising early to care for those members of our beloved community who needed us most.
During this evolution, every member of this wonderful Team remained determined, vigilant, focused on quality and compassion for individuals who simply wanted to know that someone cares! This Team is a magnificent group of individuals who demonstrate again and again that CARING is more than just a word, it is an attitude and the basis of a formidable culture that drives this Team every day.
The ED family is being nominated for proving to themselves, their patients, and others that the highest quality care can be provided in a caring and compassionate environment, even under the most difficult circumstances!
