The Nurses on Rainbow 2 are individually and collectively the most dedicated and skilled group by far! We have well over 500 years of collective experience due to the combined seniority and expertise on the division. Skilled expert Pediatric Oncology Nursing care occurs around the clock. Our patients always come first. It is our motto and it is demonstrated every day in small and in great ways. The team holds themselves to high standards of care individually as well as collectively. Care is most often done in consultation with each other to insure best actions. Since space is limited, the team regularly assesses, plans, coordinates and triages the care of each patient with our MD colleagues as well as the Angie Fowler Center, RBC 6, ED and PICU teams.
Nurses are active participants in rounds and the planning of daily care. When the unit needed to respond to the recent environmental issues, the entire team of nurses, PCAs and secretaries jumped into action to make the transition to a new hospital as smooth as possible for the patients and families. Whatever is best for the kids is what the team will do. No lengths have been too great for them to tackle. The team has altered and adapted to multiple years of changing environments to insure that safe care is delivered. The team has been resilient. Not only does the team insure that high standards are met in an unfamiliar setting, they advocate for the needs of pediatric patients.
Can we paint the windows? How can we decorate for Halloween? Don't forget our Thanksgiving dinner, it must occur! The team cares deeply about the care the patients receive, about the patient and families emotional well-being, and about their colleagues. They should be proud of and be recognized for the culture of caring that they maintain no matter where they are!
