Peggy Hamilton was nominated for her exceptional kindness in caring for the two homeless daughters of one of her patients.
When Peggy walked into the patient's room, she noticed two young women laying in the recliners next to their mother's bedside. She politely informed the daughters about the hospital's guest policy and asked them to leave.
The daughters initially refused, but when Peggy explained to them that their presence was actually putting their mother (and her roommate) at more risk for a prolonged stay, the women agreed to leave - on the condition that they were served breakfast.
"A little later in the morning, Peggy went down to the cafeteria and noticed the daughters. She walked over to one of them and handed her enough money to buy both of them breakfast," her nominator wrote in a nomination letter. "The daughter was speechless and gave Peggy a grateful hug."
Peggy's kindness helped the daughters feel respected and cared for during a difficult and emotional time. Thank you for your caring heart!
