Peggy is a role model of behaviors that are extraordinary. She helps create an environment that fosters care, compassion, and professional development which helps to promote the image of nursing within the organization, the community, and the profession.
In October, a pediatric ED patient had a difficult situation and had visited the ED on several occasions. On one occasion, the patient ran outside the building scared when being discharged to go home. This made a challenging situation for the patient. Peggy, with the team, helped convince the patient they needed care to ensure a safe discharge. This situation proves Peggy's ability to empathically listen to her patient and to ensure that they were cared for in a compassionate way and were safe while at the hospital and after the patient's discharge.
This patient touched Peggy and the team. Since that day in October, Peggy has gone above and beyond to stay in contact with her patient. She has continued to call her at home to check on her and make sure that she is doing well and getting help as needed. Peggy is a true hero to this patient and has worked hard to deliver care that is truly neighbors caring for neighbors. Neighbors caring for neighbors personifies our culture at Paulding.
In addition to helping out with this particular instance, Peggy continues to be a strong advocate and leader for the pediatric population within our community by serving on various boards and committees, advocating for improved pediatric care to those who normally don't have a voice.
