I entered your system at Arkadelphia on a Thursday morning presenting with an elevated blood pressure and a very high pulse rate. The ER doctor quickly found me to be in atrial fibrillation and began making arrangements to transport me to your faculty in Little Rock, where I was placed under the care of Dr. K. After direct admission into the CCU unit I was placed in the nursing care of Otis Ingram, RN. This began my knowledge into coronary issues and treatments. Otis was extremely thorough in explaining my condition, what tests were ordered, and benefits this information would be to Dr. K. On Friday, it was decided that I could undergo heart catheter exploration, which turned out to be very satisfactory, and I was now under the direct care of Shelbi Carpenter, RN. On Saturday, I was transferred to the 9th floor and placed under the direct care of Peggy Pentkowski, RN.
As I was settling in, I commented to "Nurse Peg" that I could be a high maintenance patient. Her immediate response was, "That's good, because we specialize in High Maintenance Patients!" Of course I was kidding, but she was not! Over the next 2 days Peggy kept my wife and me informed of my condition, and early Saturday morning I converted back to my normal heart rhythm. On Sunday, Dr. G reviewed my tests and chart data and cleared me for discharge.
During my entrance, evaluation, and treatment at Baptist Health, I believe I was treated to an exceptional level of service. In my 24 years in law enforcement with the Arkansas State Police, and my 12 years as Head of Security for Summit Bank, I have learned to identify individuals with high standards of personal responsibility, which is directly correlated to exceptional customer service. Otis, Shelbi, and Peggy were exceptional caregivers to me and my wife during my recent stay at Baptist Health and we are sincerely appreciative and feel blessed that we fell under their care.
