October 2024 Honoree
Penny Reynolds, RN, BSN
Compassion means concern for the suffering of others, and that is what Penny shows to her patients and family members. A patient was in hospice care waiting to go back to his home the next day. She stressed how the goal was to have him comfortable and to keep him out of pain, which she did! I spent the night with him, and she checked on me, too. Making sure I had a pillow and a blanket too. She always checked to see what we needed. She went above and beyond when the sound went off on the TV. She figured out how to get it back on so quickly. Also, when the PCT got busy, she helped me position him and change him as necessary. Penny is an asset to Alexian Brothers. He passed at 4 am and she was a strong support for the family.
Thank you, Penny, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
