Penny helped him get in the car, lifted the wheelchair herself, and placed it in the trunk. It was the only time I had to hug my nurse.
Having breast issues is very concerning to any woman. It's emotionally upsetting. Penny treated me with the utmost concern. She genuinely cared about me, the person, not just the patient. She was kind, gentle, and understanding of my questions. She took the time to explain every step along the way to having a biopsy.

I had a special concern that day that had nothing to do with my breast or the procedure. I am a caregiver to my partner, who is in a wheelchair. He was with me at the hospital. I realized that I would not be able to lift his wheelchair and assist him in getting in the car to go home. I told Penny about the situation, and she assured me that I did not need to worry; she would make sure I had help. During the procedure, she noticed that my eyes were squinting in pain. Immediately, she asked me, "Does that hurt?" I admitted it did hurt. The doctor stopped and administered more numbing meds, and Penny watched me ever so closely to ensure I was comfortable.

When it was all over, Penny helped me from the procedure room to the imaging room and back. She went with me to the dressing room and helped ensure I knew how to treat the surgical area. Then, instead of trying to find someone to help me with the wheelchair saga, she came with me to meet my husband. She stayed with him while I went and got the car. Penny helped him get in the car, lifted the wheelchair herself, and placed it in the trunk. It was the only time I had to hug my nurse. She was so much more than a medical professional. She was caring, unmatched, and invaluable. I will forever remember the lucky Penny I found that day.
