Penny Weddle, RN

Penny brings a lot of experience and compassion to department nursing, but so do the other staff. Where she sets herself apart from the rest is in going beyond expectations to improve the quality of our patients' lives. There are days she brings her cosmetology kit and sets up in the shower room, giving haircuts to patients. This happens so often now, I think we take for granted not all of those days she was scheduled to work. She also doesn't charge for the haircuts....at least I haven't seen her take a cut yet. Yesterday we had a patient who needed equipment not available on our unit, but Penny went the extra mile and found a solution; she showed up with a portable unit. That is going above and beyond and demonstrates true dedication and compassion to our patients.
