When I first met Pete, I was a new Unit Coordinator, and I did not know how special of a nurse he was and how dear to me he would become. I first met Pete in his home unit of 2 North at KRMC almost two years ago, and because of a very difficult patient, I watched him shield his fellow nurses and jump in to help without a second thought. He demonstrated a calm and friendly demeanor even when faced with a completely opposite disposition from the other party. He remained respectful in the face of adversity. He inspired me to do the same, and I have had many opportunities to follow his example in these two years I've been blessed to work with him. I've come to realize that IS Pete. He is always willing to help on different units and assist his fellow nurses. He treats every patient, his or otherwise, with respect and kindness in giving his care to them. He protects his fellow coworkers when needed and never hesitates to do so.
