Teamwork is what helped stabilize our patient so quickly because everyone jumped in to help.
There aren’t enough words to describe the amazing TEAMWORK on the perinatal unit! In short, I had a patient who had a postpartum hemorrhage, that needed a massive transfusion, and was transferred to IR and SICU. As soon as I notified the CRN- Andy that my patient was beginning to hemorrhage, she came to bedside to assist. The scrub nurse Anna was my runner and assisted the MD during an extensive assessment and placement of bakri balloon. Once it was necessary for the patient to go to IR, the rest of the unit absorbed two other patients so that Cameo (another awesome RN) could assist me in IR to run a massive transfusion. The entire Perinatal Nurse Team worked seamlessly together. Other nurses just jumped in to see what they could help with, without anyone having to ask. (Thank you, Beth and Julia!) Lana our unit clerk, was our runner for blood and helped with phone calls and she always helps our unit run smoothly, especially in an emergency. EVERYONE on our unit helped take such great care of our patient. The sense of support and teamwork on our unit is incredible. Not only does every nurse care about every single patient on our unit, but we also care about each other. After I returned from transferring our patient, several of my team inquired about the status of our patient because they genuinely were concerned and CARED for her. They also checked in with me and provided hugs and a listening ear to help me decompress. This is just a small and simple example of how much love, support, and respect our Perinatal family has for each other and our patients. Teamwork is what helped stabilize our patient so quickly because everyone jumped in to help. Teamwork is what helped me feel supported during a stressful time. Teamwork is what makes our Perinatal unit absolutely SUPERB! I am so glad that I work at a hospital and unit that values teamwork support, excellent nursing care, and HEART! Thank you PERINATAL UNIT! YOU ARE THE BEST!
