All of the staff were amazing, an anesthesiologist, nurses, aids Dr Han and his amazing team at the doctor's office. I am so grateful to all involved for being able to give me a second shot at life. THANK YOU, MEDSTAR GOOD SAMARITAN.

Each one of the nurses that I came in contact that day were absolutely wonderful and fabulous to me. Of course I was wonderful and fabulous to them. Keep up the good work.

All of the nurses made me feel like they really cared about my health.

The Perioperative Team, a remarkable group of nurses who seamlessly flex between the ASU, PACU, and ENDO, embodies an extraordinary commitment to their patients and one another. Their adaptability and ability to deliver exceptional care across all perioperative settings make them truly deserving of the Team DAISY Award.
These nurses consistently go above and beyond to ensure patients are well cared for throughout their procedural journeys. Whether in Pre-Op, PACU, or Endo, they provide comfort and reassurance during what can often be a daunting experience. Their compassionate approach helps patients feel informed, calm, and supported, easing fears and fostering trust. Patients undergoing repeated procedures frequently develop strong connections with the team, resuming conversations and building rapport with each visit.
It’s heartwarming to witness such compassionate nursing care, especially with patients who require frequent interventions over extended periods. One example of their incredible dedication occurred in the ENDO unit when a patient received a cancer diagnosis. A nurse at the bedside recognized the need for emotional support and led a prayer circle involving the entire nearby team. Another powerful moment happened in the PACU during a Code Green. A patient, frustrated by unexpected news of needing another procedure, became agitated. His nurse from the previous day stepped in, leveraging their connection to de-escalate the situation. By the time he was transported, he was calm and expressed gratitude to the team.
Beyond patient care, this team fosters an exceptional sense of camaraderie and mutual support. Whether celebrating life milestones, hosting potlucks, or offering prayers and encouragement, they exemplify what it means to be a family. From birthdays and graduations to supporting colleagues on medical leave or facing personal challenges, they always care for one another.
Their flexibility and teamwork are unmatched, as they regularly adjust schedules, swap shifts, and ensure adequate coverage to maintain excellent patient care while supporting work-life balance. Whether switching from 12-hour to 9-hour shifts or simply stepping in when needed, they consistently prioritize the needs of the team and their patients.
This compassionate, skilled, and dedicated group of nurses exemplifies the essence of excellence in nursing care. Their unwavering commitment to their patients and one another makes them an outstanding example of the profession and truly deserving of the Team DAISY Award.
