Peter Breimhorst, RN

Whether it be for drastic, lifesaving interventions or just to brighten someone’s day, Peter goes above and beyond to give great care. The example we are going to highlight is about a current long-term patient at St. Francis. This patient is confused, doesn’t get many visitors, and has difficulty expressing himself verbally. Even when he is not assigned to this patient, Peter takes time out of his shifts to ensure this patient gets a shower, has his beard shaped to his liking, and has his hair tidied. With this patient’s impaired communication, he isn’t always able to describe his preferences for hair and beard length. Peter noticed photos in his room and did his best to match the styles. With that being said, we think Peter is a true DAISY Nurse. Not only does he make patients feel human again, but Peter goes to extra lengths for his colleagues as well. He educates new and seasoned nurses without judgement or criticism. He gives feedback when necessary but is cognizant of people’s feelings and learning styles. We always know he will be a resource, listening ear, and shoulder to cry on if we need it.
