Peter Gerber integrates the vision of a connected experience of care into daily practice. During the past year, Peter has advanced in his professional development in so many areas and is highly regarded by his peers.
Peter has been influential in leading his team to redesign processes to improve safety, efficiency and effectiveness of shift handovers. He led numerous workgroups and engaged the entire team in thoughtful reflection of practice and was able to work collaboratively with another unit to place patients at the center of care, redesigning the role of the CNAs, improving CNA-RN communication, reducing interruptions in care, and improving communication with shift handover. Peter continues to precept others as he works with Education on Shift Handover to champion and teach other mentors/champions on the remaining medical-surgical units.
His manager and co-workers have the highest regard for Peter and appreciated the opportunity to practice together with him in providing care for the patients in our community. He makes a difference in patient’s lives but has been truly outstanding this past year as he has had the opportunity to influence others and redesign care practices to place the patient at the center of care.
