During what would turn out to be the final days of our mother’s life, her nurse not only provided our mom tender care, but also patiently instructed my 2 brothers and me on the nuances of DNR, things to watch for during mom’s final stages, and everything she and her team would do to keep our mom as comfortable as possible. At the close of what would be our nurse's final shift tending to our mom, she took the time to lean toward our mother and whisper in her ear how appreciative she was to have been able to provide our mom with care and then gave my 2 brothers and me a hug goodbye. She expressed hoping she’d see us again during her next shift, but we think she knew that was unlikely. While we miss our mom, we’ll always be grateful for the tender and warm care that was provided by our nurse and the rest of the Baptist Memorial nurse team. Thank all of you for helping give our mom dignity in her final days.
