Petra was admitting an elderly patient and the care she gave him truly touched his heart, so much so that he called me the next day because he wanted the supervisor to know what kind and compassionate care Petra gave him.
The patient explained he was the first patient of the day. During the admit process Petra detected an abnormal rhythm. Petra, in a calm caring manner, explained to the patient what she was hearing and that the physician would be doing several things to care for this issue. The patient stated that because of Petra's caring compassionate manner he wasn't worried because she was caring for him. This patient hadn't met her until that morning, but he knew by the care she gave him, that he was in good hands.
Petra does what is needed to always meet her patient's needs and always with a beautiful smile. She helps in other areas of the clinic, such as walk-in clinic to give the same wonderful care. Our future nurses will truly learn from Petra the meaning of compassion, kindness, and "from the heart" care. I witness it daily.
