Peyton Ford, LPN

Peyton Ford demonstrated extreme compassion and care in a very sad and potentially very isolating situation. We had been caring for a man who was originally admitted as a John Doe to our hospital who suffered life-ending injuries. In spite of our best efforts, he continued to decline clinically and was placed on comfort measures. He was transferred to MSU for further care, where Peyton stayed by his bedside and provided warmth and a steady presence. Though this patient's family and friends were never able to be located in spite of an extensive months-long search, he was never alone. Peyton held his hand through his final moments, and he passed peacefully, surrounded by our incredible nursing team. To go out of his way to comfort and to alleviate suffering for a patient who has no one by their side is the pinnacle, to me, of nursing excellence.
