One particular patient story that stands out (and there are many), was from a patient with an acute condition. This patient was not only dealing with her diagnosis, but also many life stressors. She was tearful in my office at her follow-up appointment. I knew that she needed to talk to someone in behavioral health services. I provided her with Philicia's name and advised her to call the Access Center to make an appointment. I then notified Philicia to watch for her referral, and she graciously squeezed the patient into her very busy schedule.
After seeing Philicia, my patient told me how wonderful she was. Describing, not only her listening but her genuine care and empathy. She said when it was over, Philicia hugged her and she felt so supported. She knew she was in the right hands and felt hope.
I could go on and on with similar patient stories. The patients can see when a provider truly LOVES their job and Philicia is an excellent example of this.
