Philip consistently provides exceptional nursing care to our acute mentally ill patients. He takes a calm, reassuring approach to ease patient distress and de-escalate heightened situations. He goes above and beyond to anticipate patient needs and build rapport. Philip takes time to educate patients about their medications and treatment, enlisting their participation and cooperation with their care. He sets appropriate boundaries and engages in therapeutic communication! When a code grey is called, he takes the initiative to maintain patient and staff safety. Recently, we have had multiple codes on the Acute Unit involving different patients, and he consistently demonstrates strong leadership and collaboration with colleagues to manage difficult situations. He was able to get a patient to take oral medications when previously they were requiring IM meds. Philip is a highly valued member of the team.
