I also feel self-conscious and second guess myself when asking for pain meds, but Phil always takes me seriously and encourages me not to hesitate to ask for them, and it has helped me feel better than I thought would be possible for me.
I know Phil is a nurse, not a nursing assistant, but it never feels like he’s doing his job. The genuine care that he has for people radiates all of him. He’s extremely thoughtful in his care suggestions, my likes and dislikes, and things I’ve said in the past. He never hesitates to do the best possible job on everything and is extremely kind. I never get the impression that he’s just trying to get from room to room as fast as he can. He also took an interest in my art after we made small talk about what my hobbies are, but it wasn’t just meaningless small talk to him. He asked if I had any pictures of it that he could see and then told me about what he found cool or interesting about each one which really made my day.

Please consider him for this or another award, he’s awesome. Also, he was constantly trying to make my parents more comfortable instead of just walking past them, and it helped a lot because they have been worried sick lately.
