January 2024 Honoree
Philip Mondejar 3, RN
I was a patient in 3 East for a VERY long time. I had a heart attack and they had to place a pacemaker in me. The staff taking care of me in stepdown were all so kind and wonderful, but my recovery was so slow and was not doing as well as I had hoped that I started feeling extremely depressed and hopeless. Then Philip was assigned to me. I had him for only three nights, but he made such an impact on my hospitalization! Phil was so very compassionate, knowledgeable, and sweet. He spent time talking to me about my life outside of the hospital and how well my recovery was going. He gave me HOPE. Even when he wasn’t assigned as my primary nurse, he would still visit or help and on my last night in Peninsula before they transferred me to Kaiser, Phil was the charge nurse and he still took the time to respond to my questions and concerns. Phil truly is an angel, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the effect he had on me even until now. I hope and pray that this wonderful human being gets the recognition he deserves.
