Day shift had a very difficult patient. She was very upset and discontented with how her care was given primarily because her doctor did not order a certain medication. She did want to go home but was not happy about it.
I removed her IV and made her sign the discharge papers, but she refused to have a copy of it, and she also refused a wheelchair. I then accompanied her to the lobby, calmed her down, and just tried to talk to her nicely and with compassion. She told me that she would try to call people to pick her up.
I saw Phillip Rose in the lobby and I updated him on the situation. I would just like to commend Phillip because when he got out of the hospital he saw the patient walking and Phillip gave the patient a ride home. It might seem ordinary to some but knowing how upset and sad the patient was, at least an employee still was able to go above and beyond by making sure that a patient who was very difficult to deal with and was rude to our doctor, still got home safely through the effort of an employee.
