On a Monday with the week just starting, clinic was very busy with post weekend volume rush and staffing much compromised. Phoebe Rodwell didn't allow these issues to interrupt her from providing high-quality care to her patient. It was during a nurse visit that she offered to assume responsibility to help a coworker who appeared to be overwhelmed. The nurse visit was a routine visit for an injection, but once Phoebe first laid eyes on the patient she immediately identified there was something wrong. She knew she had an emergent situation on her hands. Her routine nurse visit turned into an urgent nurse triage and subsequent urgent visit with the medical provider. The patient was assessed by the provider and then transferred emergently to the Emergency Center via ambulance.
Phoebe's care and concern didn't stop there, she was making a courtesy follow up the next day and realized he had been just as critical as she thought, because he had been admitted into ICU. Without Phoebe's compassion, commitment to caring for her patients, and excellent critical thinking skills, the outcome could have been grimly different.
Phoebe's dedication to and passion for her patients are very admirable. She cares for them and assists her coworkers with selflessness. The patients trust her with their care, and her coworkers trust her knowledge and skills. Phoebe is a great asset to Harris Health System and Aldine Health Center. She is a dynamic team player and is greatly valued and appreciated.
