The Professional Development Council received a couple nominations, one from a co-worker and one from a family member, for this FLEX Pool nurse who personifies the spirit of the DAISY award in her professional practice.

Phyllis embodies the traits of professionalism, compassion, and excellence every day that she is working at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She is an angel in human form. She not only shows concern for her patients but also the family members.

One example of her exceeding expectations occurred while she was working on 4 East. A family member was understandably concerned about their loved one's condition but conveyed this concern in what appeared to be a mean and stubborn attitude. Phyllis' gentleness, understanding, and kindness continued to show through regardless of the difficult situation. She called doctors or whoever was needed to ensure the family and patient felt comfortable and well informed. She would stay beyond her shift to visit with the family and patient demonstrating her desire and dedication to provide the best possible experience for these individuals. Regardless of her assignment, where it be on 4 East but with other patients or off this unit in another area, she continually came to check on the well-being of the patient and their family. She has done this on multiple occasions with other patients and showed genuine concern for the staff in working areas.

She is truly an extraordinary RN who exemplifies professional excellence and compassion that extends beyond what is commonplace. She is an asset to the FLEX Pool and the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
