I was a patient at Maricopa with an infection and diverticulosis. Phyllis was my nurse for two days, but on the third day I had another nurse. I was told I was being discharged that day, but had to eat first. When I tried to eat that morning, I felt a need to have a BM. When I tried to go, I felt something was wrong.I started to walk down the hallway in a lot of pain when Phyllis found me. She saw I was in pain, and with compassion asked me what was wrong. I told her that I felt like my insides were burning and knew that something was wrong. Even though she wasn't my nurse that day, she took my arm, asked a student to take my other arm, and helped me to my room. Phyllis got me pain medicine and got the doctors to do another CT scan, where they found that my bowel had perforated. Phyllis went beyond just doing her job that day and saved my life! She is my hero!

Thank you from a grateful MIHS patient.

Thank you, Phyllis, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
