I am so grateful to have such a compassionate nurse and woman who helped me during those moments.
I went into Labor & Delivery with no intention of being induced. I was determined to have my baby on my own but unfortunately, I needed to be induced to move forward on dilating. I was introduced to my nurse Pia that morning. I asked her how many years she’d been working at Northridge. She told me over 20. I immediately felt comfortable with her by her presence and her long-term time being an L&D nurse. We had started Pitocin and jumped little by little into labor. By the afternoon came along, I had been in active labor and was struggling between contractions. I was trying my best to push them out by breathing but needed help. I asked for pain medication but it was so difficult to get it with contractions coming so fast back to back. I felt my baby was coming fast. Pia stuck with me. She held my arms during contractions. She made eye contact and helped me breathe. When I told her baby was coming, she jumped into gear and helped me push her out. I am so grateful to have met her. I don’t think I could have pushed out my baby without Pia. I am so grateful to have such a compassionate nurse and woman who helped me during those moments. I wanted to show my gratitude for her Pia. I will remember her forever!
