Piyali's kindness, fairness, caring nature, trustworthiness, emotional stability, empathy, and compassion are all of the qualities that served us well and got us through our worst life moments we had experienced.
Words cannot describe how grateful we are to Piyali for her amazing care and compassion. The first night of our stay here at ORMC, Piyali had to break the news to us that I couldn't stay the night with my husband. As any loved one could imagine, that was very difficult news to digest, I expressed my concerns and even tried to escalate it to the charge nurse to see if there was an exception that could be made but unfortunately, there was not due to strict COVID rules. Piyali looked at me, my eyes were filled with tears, and she promised to take good care of him and she did. That night Piyali proved that she was willing and capable of taking care of him and gave me the trust and confidence I needed to leave him each night. The next night my husband had been assigned a different nurse and she fought to keep him. Piyali took care of him many of the nights he had to stay in the hospital. Kind gestures like bringing him warm blankets when my husband mentioned in passing that he was cold or bringing him warm chocolate chip cookies to brighten his sad day are just some of the examples of the ways she went above and beyond to show she cared. Piyali made sure to stay on top of my husband's pain medication, she even changed the way he was getting his medicine to help maximize his pain control. When he had a new Piyali's kindness, fairness, caring nature, trustworthiness, emotional stability, empathy, and compassion are all of the qualities that served us well and got us through our worst life moments we had experienced. pain, she was sure to address it quickly-he started with hip pain from laying too long and she got him a heating pad, he started with painful urination and she got the doctor to order medicine for comfort. Piyali kept us informed throughout our stay and also on track for what was next with my husband's plan of care. She is a great nurse and an amazing patient advocate; any patient is lucky to have her but I am most grateful she was my husband's nurse.
