I was placed in the SICU after open-heart surgery. All of my nurses were good, however, Portia Jamora stood out in my mind. She went above and beyond to ensure I had the best hospital stay ever. She was compassionate and treated me like a family member. She would engage in conversation when she worked which I thoroughly needed since guests are not allowed at that time. She was both friendly and firm. She made sure I walked the floor despite my bratty self. I would try to refuse but she wasn't having it and my surgeon was happy about that. Every night she came in, she'd use soap and water and helped me wash myself and brush my teeth to make me feel as clean as possible. The other nurses used wipes. I appreciated the use of soap and water. The process alone stood out in my mind. She is very compassionate and that's why I'm nominating her for this award. I am giving her 5 stars! Thank you!
