Priscilla Njokede joined the staff of Kings County in April 2021 and was immediately welcomed to D6South, where she has settled down quite easily as a new nurse in an acute setting. Priscilla cares deeply for her patients and consistently demonstrates kindness and compassion. It is not unusual to walk around the unit and hear her patients willing to tell you stories about how satisfied they are with her treatment and care. This is often echoed by family members. She does not shirk responsibilities and has a willingness to perform care whenever necessary. Priscilla will walk a mile for her patients to get them what they need, whether it's from the pharmacy, kitchen, or linen bin. Priscilla does not hesitate to get involved in an emergency and can often be seen taking a leading role, not leaving until she is satisfied that all went well. Young nurses look up to her and follow her lead. Only a few days ago, a patient lauded Ms. Priscilla's resilience in getting the doctor to address her pain needs, when, according to the patient, the doctor was not sensitive enough. Priscilla was able to get the doctor not only to listen but to provide the comforting medication to the patient. The patient was truly thankful and said it was the best she had felt in days. Priscilla is truly worthy of a DAISY Award.
