My story is one of faith, struggle, and miracles. I was hospitalized for a month due to gynecological complications, and during that time the doctors were trying to buy time so that my baby could keep growing. I remember the fear, the uncertainty, because my baby already wanted to be born, weighing barely 400 grams. But thanks to the care I received while I was admitted, we managed to help him grow a little more.
My baby was born weighing 780 grams and at just 26 weeks of gestation. From that moment on, our second great battle began: an almost three-month stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They were difficult, long, emotional days, where every gram gained was a victory, and every day overcome was a gift.
During that time, all the NICU nurses were kind, professional, and very attentive with my baby. But there is one person in particular I want to deeply acknowledge. She was the first to receive me when I arrived full of fear, not knowing what was going to happen with my son. And she not only cared for him with great professionalism, she also cared for me, with words that I still carry engraved in my heart. I remember she told me: “One day at a time, mama.” That phrase held me up. It taught me to breathe, to trust, to live step by step.
She was always attentive to my baby, watching every detail with tenderness, dedication, and a level of commitment that cannot be faked. She is a wonderful human being and an exceptional nurse. Thanks to her, I felt accompanied on such a fragile and important journey.
Today, with all my heart, I celebrate her vocation, her sensitivity, and her strength by nominating her for this well-deserved DAISY AWARD. Thank you, Pryscila, for walking with us through this miracle of life.
