In 2001 Purity Koros began her career at AGH. She had just arrived from Kenya. I so admired her. A new mom in a new country. She was also studying to be a RN. She was juggling it all with a smile on her face. She has a way with her patients. I guess it is her ability to stay calm in whatever comes her way. Just when you think that you had enough and you are at the breaking point, she will say something that makes you laugh and your heart smiles.

Over the years we have watched many come and go. I have seen this once quiet and timid CA, now RN dazzle us all. Her knowledge and confidence puts both patients and team members at ease in a difficult situations. She can run a code with calmness, confidence, and compassion. Purity is a teacher to all and instills the importance of asking questions when in doubt. I truly believe that Purity is an inspiration to all of us. She has accomplished so much. When we have staffing issues on the floor she changes her shift, so that we have experienced RN over seeing travelers and new.

Purity is always kind and compassionate with all of her patients and co-workers. Purity is always happy to help others. Purity is often looked to as a resource when there are patients that are decompensating or coding, she always handles these situations with a calm and compassionate demeanor. Purity exemplifies what most nurses dream of being when they become a nurse.
