I would like to nominate Puspa Karki, an EN working on 2A. I am writing this nomination based on multiple feedback accounts after a very challenging shift. Puspa showed strong clinical leadership yesterday with a very aggressive patient who was physically threatening to harm our team and displaying intimidating physical aggression. Puspa stepped into the clinical lead position and navigated the situation as effectively as possible and it was noted by multiple members of the nursing and code black team that his leadership was impressive and made a positive difference to the situation by diffusing the patient's behaviour with calming communication and distraction strategies.

Puspa provided the code black team with clear direction and allowed the situation to be handled with as minimal impact to the patient as possible for the level of violence being displayed. Puspa also provided emotional support to the team after the event.

Puspa is consistently working to a high standard on 2A, with strong clinical skills underpinned by his kindness. He patiently addresses each situation with clinical reasoning and never takes shortcuts. He works very hard and deserves to be recognised for going above and beyond every shift he works.
